Director’s Statement
Everyone has a box of their own—a box where we put heavy feelings into. Sometimes, people find it easy to carry around or even make it not last long enough to bother them. But, we all know it doesn’t work that way every time. Because we always run into forces weighing down on us, making us hard to move forward.
I wanted to portray that heaviness we feel in life. That heavy heart we have to carry at some point in life. By focusing on a single strong feeling. Guilt.
As powerful as this feeling could be, I wanted to give contrast in the way of telling the story by making it almost like a visual poem.
I can’t make your box light or disappear. But for a moment, I just want you to put your box down, sit still, and feel. Watch and feel what Toni does with her box.
Don’t forget. You’re not the only one with a heavy box. That heavy heart.
